This vacancy is maternity leave relief for an initial period of up to 49 weeks for 8 hours per week; the hours and period of employment may change according to the maternity leave requirements. There is also the possibility of an extension at same / reduced hours.
About the role
Casino District Memorial Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) Emergency to coordinate, deliver and evaluate clinical nursing education programs at a ward/service level. You'll provide clinical supervision to support the development of evidence-based, person-centred nursing care in line with the standards, policies and procedures of the Ministry of Health and other statutory authorities.
Also known as the Rainbow Region, this area is blessed with stunning forests and waterfalls, fertile farming land, artistic villages and relaxed seaside communities. For a different type of scene, you can drive to the Gold Coast or Brisbane in under 3 hours.

About the Opportunity
An exciting temporary opportunity is available for a Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join our team and support staff across the Hunter Valley, Kurri Kurri, Cessnock, Scone, Singleton and Muswellbrook areas.
This is a unique opportunity to work across multiple sites, supporting a broad range of staff and services while helping build workforce capability, confidence and clinical skills. The successful applicant can be based at any of the participating sites, providing flexibility to suit your location. This is a job-share position, with the successful applicant supported by an established and experienced CNE. Start times and working hours are negotiable, providing flexibility to balance your work and lifestyle.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Clinical Nurse Educator, you will play a key role in supporting staff development and ensuring teams have the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver safe, high-quality care.
With access to fleet vehicles, you will travel across the region to:
- Provide education, training and support across multiple sites and services.
- Support a broad range of staff including nursing, allied health and administration teams.
- Facilitate mandatory education and support staff to maintain required competencies.
- Identify learning needs and provide targeted education and upskilling.
- Deliver service-specific education to support clinical practice and workforce capability.
- Assist with clinical competencies, assessment and ongoing staff development.
- Participate in audits and use findings to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Build strong relationships with staff and services across the Hunter Valley.
- Work collaboratively with the established CNE to coordinate and deliver education across the region.
About you
We are looking for an approachable and motivated educator who enjoys working with people and can confidently support staff across a diverse range of services.
You will bring:
- Community nursing and/or clinical education experience (both desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build rapport and positive working relationships with a diverse range of staff.
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise competing demands and travel between sites.
- A supportive and approachable manner, with a passion for helping others develop their skills and confidence.
- The ability to act as a trusted point of contact for education, training and competency support.

- Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Midwife.
- Demonstrated specific competencies in facilitation of childbirth education.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means and sound interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner.
- Demonstrated application of evidence based practice and critical thinking to advocate for and implement individualised woman-centred care with a commitment to quality improvement.

Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care throughout the immediate post-anaesthetic phase
Recognising and effectively managing post-anaesthetic and postoperative complications
Monitoring patient recovery, ensuring discharge criteria are met and providing comprehensive clinical handover
Advocating for patients and communicating effectively with patients, families, carers and the multidisciplinary team

What you'll be doing
The Enrolled Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse, to provide person-centered care, in collaboration with individual/s and the multidisciplinary health care team to achieve people focused quality care.

Our 44-bed unit provides specialised medical and surgical care to newborns across the Hunter New England and Mid North Coast regions.

About the role
As a NICU Registered Nurse, you will provide safe, compassionate and family-centred care to newborns and their families. You will work collaboratively with families, carers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes and deliver care tailored to each baby's individual needs.

Your Transition to Practice

Transition Support From Day One
Your transition from student to Enrolled Nurse is an important stage of your career. From your first day, you’ll be welcomed into your facility and supported by your Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and experienced nursing colleagues.
The transition experience will vary between facilities according to local services and workforce arrangements.
At larger hospitals, including Armidale, Belmont, Maitland and Tamworth, support may include formal Transition to Practice arrangements such as structured rotations, dedicated education and targeted professional development.
At smaller rural and regional facilities, you’ll benefit from personalised support, hands-on learning and the opportunity to work closely with experienced, close-knit teams.
Depending on your placement, learning and development opportunities may include:
- Orientation and local clinical education
- Bedside learning and support from experienced nursing colleagues
- In-services, grand rounds and online learning
- Structured professional development activities
- Group reflective practice and peer-learning sessions
