- Descibe your experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute hospital setting, including any experience in gastroenterology, endoscopy, medical, or surgical nursing. How has this experience prepared you to provide safe, patient-centred care to patients with complex gastrointestinal conditions?
Gastroenterology patients often require close monitoring and timely escalation of care, describe a clinical situation where you identified a deteriorating patient or potential complication and the actions you took to ensure patient safety

The Transition to Acute Medicine Program (TAMP) offers a structured, supportive pathway across Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Respiratory, and General Medicine—helping you develop a broad, adaptable clinical foundation.
Acute medicine is fast-paced, dynamic, and highly rewarding—strengthening your assessment skills, clinical decision-making, and ability to manage complex patients while working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes.
Through hands-on experience, mentorship, and targeted education, you’ll grow into a confident clinician capable of managing acute and chronic health conditions.

- Rotations across five acute medicine specialties
- Structured support from Clinical Nurse Educators, Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), and senior clinicians
- Four targeted education days led by specialty CNCs, with guest facilitators, focusing on high-impact clinical skills and specialty knowledge

As the Paediatric Haemodialysis Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) you will deliver and evaluate clinical education programs at Kidney Care Centre within Prince of Wales Hospital.
Some of the key functions of your role will be:
- Lead, coordinate, implement and evaluate evidence-based education programs that support the delivery of safe, high-quality paediatric kidney care across the Prince of Wales Hospital Kidney Care Centre and collaborating health services.
- Provide expert clinical leadership in paediatric haemodialysis, continuous kidney replacement therapies (CKRT), home dialysis therapies and specialised renal nursing practice.
As a CNE in SESLHD you will be recognised as a healthcare professional employing your clinical skills and critical thinking in delivering high quality patient care. You will exercise extended autonomy of decision making and professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills.
You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and lead, support and supervise other nurses and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate.

Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

Selection Criteria
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
- Current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of commencement in role.
- Demonstrated extensive and recent clinical experience in paediatric nephrology and paediatric haemodialysis, including management of acute and chronic dialysis patients.
- Sound understanding of teaching, learning and assessment in the health care environment (adult learning principles) and demonstrated ability to apply same in the paediatric haemodialysis and advanced renal therapy setting.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, advanced computer skills and use of software programs to develop and deliver education.
