Where you'll be working
South East Regional Hospital (SERH) is a newly built, architecturally designed hospital in Bega with expansive views of the Bega Valley. It is 429 kilometres South of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne. With many beautiful coastal towns, national parks, snow fields and beaches within a short driving distance, it is the perfect location for those looking to for a family-friendly area with great work-life balance. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy including fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, walking, mountain biking and whale watching to just name a few. For young families looking to relocate to the region, there is the newly established Welcome Experience to help with finding work for spouses, schooling, childcare and integration into the local community.
South East Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for the expansive south coast regions from Bateman's Bay to Cooma and down past the Victorian border to Mallacoota. The state of the art hospital is equipped with 3 operating theatres, ICU, 5 inpatient wards and outpatient services. There is also a dedicated office for the Orthopaedic registrars as well as a shared JMO lounge. Rural unaccredited trainees will also be eligible to apply for scholarships through HETI to help with attending courses and conferences. Fully furnished shared accommodation is usually provided to trainee's by the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The Orthopaedic SRMO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Orthopaedic inpatients, providing an on-call service for SERH plus 3 surrounding hospitals within the health district. There is a good mix of elective and emergency operating with approximately 1200 operations performed annually. The SRMO will be responsible for the supervision of the resident medical officer as well as rotating medical students from the ANU Medical School.
The Orthopaedic Department is staffed by 2 unaccredited trainee registrars and 1 AOA accredited trainee registrar with a regular 1 in 4 on-call rosters with occasional 1 in 3 on-calls during periods of leave. The well-supported unit allows unaccredited trainees to gain a well-rounded experience in Orthopaedics. The job allows trainees/SRMOs to rotate daily through being on-call, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies, elective and emergency operating lists and outpatient clinics. There are a wide range of educational activities on offer including regular journal clubs, weekly X-ray meetings, teaching, quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings and the opportunity to take on research projects. This position would suit both an experienced trainee looking to hone their operative skills with a view to apply for the AOA Training Program or a junior trainee looking for a well-balanced introduction into Orthopaedic Surgery.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Demonstrated ability to complete rotations as allocated and required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
- Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment
- Demonstrated ongoing commitment to further self-education and professional development
- At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent)
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the JMO Trainee Stage 2-4 in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This includes both Adult and Paediatric patients. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
The Advanced Trainee is expected to function at a trainee level, supervise and also participate in teaching Junior Medical Officers and Medical Students, and taking part in research where appropriate.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Must have completed at least four postgraduate years training including a minimum 12 months full time Emergency Medicine experience in an Australian Public Hospital or equivalent (not as an Observer)
- Registered or eligible for registration with the Australian College of Emergency Medicine.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment with commitment to self-education and continuous professional development
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team.
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 24-hour shift work roster.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.

The Central Coast is part of the Emergency Medicine Network 2 Training Program. Gosford & Wyong Emergency Departments are educationally networked for training with ACEM and offer a comprehensive education programme contributing to Primary and Fellowship exam preparation. All trainees (including Unaccredited) have access to paid rostered non-clinical time. CCLHD Emergency Trainees have achieved excellent results in both Primary and Fellowship exams, with a very high pass rate and a number of medal winners for top mark. Both Gosford and Wyong Emergency Departments are ACEM accredited for 36 months training time (including stage 4).
CCLHD offers access to regular simulation training and paid, rostered, weekly education sessions for both ACEM and Unaccredited Trainees. Education sessions include regular sessions in PEM, Radiology, SIM and Ultrasound.
Advanced Trainees have opportunities to rotate to dedicated ACEM-Accredited placements within CCLHD, including ICU and Anaesthetics (Critical Care Placements), Medical Education, Ultrasound, Trauma (Special Skills Placements) and Paediatric Medicine (Non-ED Placement). External secondments to Tertiary Emergency, Tertiary Paediatrics and Retrieval may be available.
Career opportunities may be available for Trainees progressing through training towards Consultant level.

Central Coast Emergency Medicine:
Gosford and Wyong Emergency Departments are busy mixed departments with a wide variety of presentations, providing excellent exposure to trauma, Paediatrics (25% of presentations), Medicine, and Surgery. Both are well supported by passionate Emergency Physicians who are committed to your development and wellbeing.
In conjunction with the University of Newcastle, CCLHD has recently opened the Central Coast Clinical School and Research Institute on the Gosford Hospital campus, providing additional opportunities in training and research.

Nepean Hospital is the tertiary referral unit for Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals as well as the Central West of NSW. The Hospital is designated as a regional trauma centre with all major medical and surgical specialties on site and is affiliated with the University of Sydney. The new ED opened in early 2023 as part of the stage 1 redevelopment. It provides an excellent area to provide care for our patients in a modern and spacious environment. Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
This position consists of 6 months working as an Advanced Trainee in the Paediatric Department at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (General Paediatrics with a Perinatal component) and 6 months working as an Advanced Trainee in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (Neonatology). This position would suit an RACP or ACEM (PEM) Advanced Trainee who requires additional General Paediatric or Neonatology training time / experience.
The primary role of a Paediatric Advanced Trainee is provision of care for patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, at a level of skill and autonomy consistent with Advanced Training in Paediatrics. The role includes initial assessment of children, rational use of investigations, ongoing management and monitoring progress, and organising timely discharge and appropriate follow up.
The Paediatric Advanced Trainee is a senior member of the Junior Medical Staff within a clinical team. In matters relating directly to patient care, the Trainee is responsible to the Specialist in charge of the patient's care and the Fellow(s) where relevant. The Trainee is responsible for supervision and teaching of Junior Medical Staff on their clinical team, including medical students. The Paediatric Advanced Trainee is a role model for Junior Medical Staff in relation to professional conduct, clinical acumen and communication with patients, families and colleagues (including health professionals and other staff working in hospital and outpatient settings).
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (or ACEM for Paediatric Emergency trainees) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent with remaining training requirements. Please outline training requirements that will be outstanding as of February 2026 and upload a copy of AT portal to this application.
- Preferably a minimum of 6 months experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit equivalent to level 5 or 6 (perinatal centre or neonatal surgical centre) though candidates with less experience will be considered based on merit
- Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development. This includes demonstrated ability to teach and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff. Please provide an example.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and a commitment to actively contribute to clinical team. Please provide an example.

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Basic Physician Trainee (BPT) is to provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas in the public health organisations within the Network.
Basic Physician Training roles consist of rotations through medical departments, working under an appropriate level of supervision by consultants. Rotations have different levels of responsibility and team structures. BPTs will gain increasing clinical autonomy and accountability as team leaders throughout the course of the three-year training program, building on their skills and attributes with the goal of entering an Advanced Training program.
BPTs undertaking the care of medical patients should ensure that they operate within their own level of expertise within a collaborative clinical care model and to seek consultation with the treating physician when appropriate, in the following activities:
- Clinically assess patients, incorporating consultation/history taking, examination, and formulation of a differential diagnosis and management plans
- Discuss diagnoses and management plans with patients and their families or carers
- Document the progress of patients in multiple settings
- Prescribe medications tailored to patients’ needs and conditions
- Transfer care of patients
- Choose, organise and interpret investigations
- Assess and manage acutely unwell patients
- Plan, prepare for, perform, and provide after care for important procedures
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- This role requires eligibility for or current registration as a Basic Physician Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and intent to obtain Fellowship of the RACP. What is your current RACP status?

The Adolescent Medicine department at The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN) are seeking a temporary 0.4 FTE (16 hours per week) Staff Specialist to join their team. The position will be based at the Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) in the Eating Disorders Service.
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Staff Specialist in Adolescent Medicine is to provide specialist medical care for patients within the Eating Disorder Service. The Staff Specialist position works collaboratively with the Psychological Medicine Staff Specialists and multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive medical treatment and psychological care for patients and their families. It includes, inpatient and outpatient services, clinical supervision for junior medical staff, contribution to Adolescent Medicine on Call service and specialist medical cover for various clinical services within the Department as required. The position will contribute to strategic planning, service development, quality improvement, teaching and education, supervision of junior medical staff.
Clinical services within the department include:
SCHN Eating Disorder Service (EDS) provides treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders from across New South Wales. Comprehensive programs at The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick include Inpatient re-feeding admissions, outpatient treatment, intensive day treatment, family admission program, parent groups and extensive family therapy program. The EDS also has a well-established clinical research program and regularly provides training, education and supervision to other services. The EDS is jointly managed and staffed by the Department of Psychological Medicine and Department of Adolescent Medicine.
Complex Adolescent Clinic (CAC) provides multidisciplinary medical and psychosocial assessment and management of adolescents with complex chronic conditions, chronic pain and fatigue syndromes impacting on their wellbeing and function.
CICADA Service is a lifespan approach to the Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcohol. The clinical service provides multidisciplinary comprehensive diagnostic assessment and management for high-risk vulnerable children and adolescents with FASD, substance use within the family or of the Adolescent.
Gender Services (GS)provides an interdisciplinary service between Adolescent Medicine, Psychological Medicine and Paediatric Endocrinology providing collaborative medical and psychosocial assessment, management for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents.
Various other services include Other Adolescent Medicine servicesinclude clinics, Adolescent Gynaecology, Adolescent Bladder Clinics, Self-Management Service, Adolescent Endocrine clinic, Group Programs and Youth Arts.

This position provides medical services at RPA Sexual Health in the inner west of Sydney and various outreach clinics as required. The four full-time equivalent (FTE) Sexual Health Trainee positions (of which 2.0 FTE are accredited as Advanced Training positions by the RACP Australasian Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine) play an integral role in the multidisciplinary team of the Department, which includes nursing, counselling and administration staff.
The key role of the trainee is to provide testing for, and management of, HIV and other sexually transmissible infections (STIs) focussing on individuals and populations at risk of and/or of public health importance to STI/HIV transmission. Other roles include, but are not limited to, education and teaching, participation in clinic research activities, liaison with other clinicians involved in patient care, liaison with and notification to local Public Health Unit, clinical support and advice to sexual health nurses and counsellors, providing specialist sexual health advice to other Specialists, General Practitioners & other health care workers within the hospital & local area, participation in clinical audits and administrative tasks. What you'll be doing
Haematology Advanced Trainees manage patients with a range of haematological conditions, including haemopoietic stem cell transplant patients at some centres, underthe supervision of Specialist Haematologists. They will also investigate clinical haematology consultations and attend patients and donors in ambulatory care and outpatient settings.
The position is responsible for liaison with scientific staff, participation in the interpretation and reporting of laboratory investigations with clinical follow up where indicated and the development of protocols for rational investigation of patients. They provide laboratory haematology and transfusion advice to medical staff; perform and report bone marrow biopsies; attend haematology outpatient clinics; participate in development of new laboratory tests and assist in bone marrow harvests in theatre.
Where you'll be working
- Nepean Hospital is a 600-bed tertiary referral hospital located at Kingswood NSW.
- The Haematology Unit has a large outpatient and Inpatient commitment.
- The haematology lab and blood bank performs on-site routine general haematology investigations including bone marrow morphology and flow cytometry.
Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Applicants who have completed at least four postgraduate years and have completed or intend to complete the examination requirements of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians may be considered
- International Medical graduates must provide documentation of Australian Medical Council assessment and a report from the relevant College (RCPA or RACP) outlining their training and exam requirements.
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent's registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role.
- Valid Working with Children Check.
- Cleared National Police Check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.

The Vascular Renal Transplant Surgery at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH) offers junior doctors the opportunity to develop their clinical and surgical skills within a busy tertiary service managing a broad range of complex vascular conditions.
Working alongside experienced Vascular Surgeons, Advanced Trainees, Unaccredited Trainees and multidisciplinary teams, trainees are actively involved in all aspects of patient care, including acute presentations, inpatient management, perioperative care, outpatient clinics and emergency consultations. The role provides exposure to a diverse range of vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, aneurysmal disease, carotid artery disease, diabetic foot complications, venous disorders and vascular trauma.
