Applications Close: 17/03/2027
With CORE Values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment,
working with us will ensure your professional life is provided every opportunity to succeed and develop in your chosen career role.
About Us
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) is an exceptional environment to advance your career while enhancing your skills and expertise. As a recognised leader in the healthcare industry, we deliver a comprehensive range of public health services across the Nepean, Blue Mountains, and Lithgow Regions.
The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).
Step into a role where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of people affected by violence, abuse and neglect. At NBMLHD, we're seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) to join our specialised Violence, Abuse and Neglect (VAN) Service. Working as part of a dedicated team of doctors, nurses and counsellors, you will provide integrated medical, forensic and psychosocial care to victim-survivors, supporting them during some of their most vulnerable moments.
The CNS2 works within the psychosocial-led NSW Health Sexual Assault Service model of care, providing integrated, trauma-informed medical care, forensic examinations and healthcare to people aged 14 years and older who have experienced violence, abuse and neglect. Working closely with multidisciplinary and external partners, you will deliver crisis, non-acute and follow-up care, including healthcare navigation, while contributing to education, mentoring, quality improvement, research and service development. The role also supports culturally safe, integrated care through forensic documentation, evidence collection and participation in a 24-hour, 7-day on-call roster.
We are looking for experienced nurses to join our close-knit team who have a broad range of clinical skills (including recognition of a deteriorating patient) and enjoy working in a supported but autonomous role. This position would suit a candidate who has previous experience in a Violence, Abuse and Neglect nursing role but training and ongoing clinical support is on offer for candidates who are new to the service.
We support people in their most vulnerable moments. If you are looking for a career where you can provide care with a trauma informed focus, we would love to hear from you.
Candidates are strongly encouraged to contact Glenys Griffiths, Medical Lead MFU NBMLHD, on 0486 108 431 or Carey Day, Clinical Nurse Consultant MFU NBMLHD, on 0438 068 159 prior to applying. There is also an opportunity to visit the Medical Forensic Unit before applying.
