About the role
You will be providing a consistent generalist medical service to patients of the Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD), coordinating clinical management of patients consistent with the plans of the Admitting Medical Officer and improvement in the continuity of care within NNSWLHD and between the hospital and community.
NSW Rural General Practitioner Procedural Training Program with NNSWLHD offers fellowed General Practitioners flexible Advanced Skills Training opportunities in Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, Emergency Medicine, Palliative Care, Mental Health and Paediatrics at the Network Hospitals.
This program is available to all Fellowed General Practitioners wanting to acquire or maintain procedural skills for use in rural NSW. It is recognised that General Practitioners undertaking procedural training are most likely to have established practices therefore training may be flexible to allow continuation of part-time work in the practice. The procedural training specialty should be appropriate to the service needs of the rural community in which they intend to practice. Recruitment will be focused on GPs proposing to take up rural practice who are residing in or are prepared to reside and practice as a General Practitioner in rural NSW.
The trainee will be engaged as a Senior Registrar under the Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award and will receive an allowance to increase total remuneration to the level of Staff Specialist Level 1, Year 5 as per the Staff Specialists (State) Award, in line with Award increases.

As a rehabilitation medicine registrar, you will contribute to the provision of rehabilitation and medical care to clients undergoing rehabilitation in a variety of conditions and settings. You will assess the clients, analyze all clinical diagnostic data, administer relevant medical care and develop rehabilitation plans for your clients. You will provide detailed written reports and maintain up to date information in the clinical files as a record of intervention.
Where you'll be working
Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital is the main referral hospital for the Shoalhaven region, providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit focusing on high dependency and coronary patients, Children’s Ward and Maternity Unit, as well as a purpose-built regional Cancer Care Centre.
The hospital is currently undergoing a significant $440M redevelopment that will redefine how healthcare is delivered within the Region. What you'll be doing
Advanced trainees are expected to participate in consultative and outpatient services in a variety of ambulatory care settings which may include hospital facilities and private consulting rooms.
Close supervision and liaison with consultants will allow the Advanced Trainee to demonstrate their level of ability and understanding of patient care and enable individual expansion of clinical responsibility. All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.im of Advanced training in Rehabilitation Medicine is to gain learning and experience in general and specialised terms, utilising evidenced based rehabilitation medicine principles, with the goal to progress through the AFRM Training program towards obtaining Fellowship.
The Advanced Trainee is to perform comprehensive rehabilitation assessments, make treatment decisions, perform procedures, maintain adequate medical records, and develop expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment. The Advanced trainee will supervise general medical management of patients admitted/referred to the Department of Rehabilitation and build an integrated care plan with interdisciplinary teams and the department to achieve best patient outcome.

Westmead Hospital is a leading centre of research, training and specialisation in all fields of Medicine and Dentistry, providing services in Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Kidney and Pancreas transplantation, Cancer Care, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Neonatal Intensive Care, Trauma, Bone Marrow Transplantation, Critical Care, Aged Care and Rehabilitation, Adult Acute Psychiatry (networked with the co-located Cumberland Hospital) as well as other specialised medical and surgical services.
The Westmead Hospital Emergency Department (ED) operates 24 hours, 7 days per week and manages all types and levels of illnesses and injuries. As one of six major trauma centres in the state, the ED also cares for people with the most severe physical injuries. Westmead Hospital ED presentation numbers are among the highest in the state, currently around 80,000 per year.
Westmead Hospital is one of Australia’s largest centres for postgraduate training to specialist levels in all fields with over 100 PhD students and other postgraduate students supervised by Westmead Hospital scientists and clinicians. Westmead is home to internationally recognised institutes of health research, the most prominent being the Westmead Millennium Institute. The Westmead Millennium Institute is one of the largest medical research institutes in Australia, conducting research into a wide range of human disorders affecting both adults and children, including infectious and immune diseases, cancer and leukaemia, liver and metabolic diseases, eye and brain related disorders and heart and respiratory disorders.
Cumberland Hospital, co- located with Westmead Hospital provides primary and secondary mental health services to the local population and tertiary acute, extended and forensic mental health services to greater western Sydney and NSW. There is also a range of community mental health residential facilities, recovery support and specialist treatment services located on the campus.
The SRMO works as part of a multi-disciplinary team which includes medical, nursing and allied health professionals.
The SRMO is directly responsible to the supervising Emergency Medicine Specialist of the day, with overall supervision by the Term Supervisor and the Emergency Department Director.
The SRMO must work effectively with other specialty teams and nursing staff in the wider hospital, to ensure optimal patient care. The Trainee must also interact professionally with clinicians outside of the hospital, including GP’s and community nurses.
What you'll be doing
WSLHD - SRMO - Emergency Medicine (Westmead)
The primary purpose of the SRMO in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent.
The following rotations are available to SRMO:
· Westmead Emergency
· The Children’s Hospital Westmead Emergency
· Westmead and Auburn anaesthetics
· Westmead ICU
· Other rotations may be negotiated depending on availability
Westmead ED is accredited for provisional & advance training with 16 hours/7 days emergency physician cover.
Our teaching program has multiple streams dedicated to different requirements including a weekly registrar teaching. There are also skills days throughout the year specific for provisional trainees and preparation in both the primary and fellowship exam.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- At least two years working as a Medical Officer
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care. Ability and willingness to participate in a rotating roster including days, evenings, nights and weekends and preparedness to participate in an on call roster for the emergency department.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary framework
- Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education

- Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team

The Team
The Billing and Revenue Collection Project will deliver an enterprise billing and revenue platform as well as uplifted and future-ready business capability that reliably supports Activity Based Funding, Medicare, and private patient billing across the Tasmanian public health system.
The project will ensure compliant, end-to-end funding and revenue pathways, reduce financial and audit risk, and provide a resilient foundation for current operations and future digital health transformation.
The Role
By understanding front-line business activities and challenges, the Consultant – Business Analysis considers people, policies, processes, clinical governance frameworks, and technology, to support hospitals, health and corporate services in identifying effective solutions underpinned by technology that meets business requirements, delivers measurable benefits, and contributes to the effective initiation and management of projects.
Experience in health billing and revenue is highly regarded. This includes working knowledge of Medicare claiming (including bulk billing and ECLIPSE), private patient election and health fund claiming, compensable and Medicare-ineligible patient billing. Candidates who understand how patient registration, clinical documentation and coding flow through to compliant claims and revenue will be well placed to translate operational needs into system and process requirements.
You will need
- Highly developed business analysis skills, including demonstrated experience in analysing business processes and thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Significant expertise in project management together with high level skills and extensive experience in the analysis and implementation of business process improvements and change management.
- High level interpersonal, communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and the demonstrated ability to identify and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions in situations of differing interest.

What you'll be doing
The Advanced Trainee will provide effective clinical management of patients, working under the supervision of Specialist Cardiologists to care for patients presenting or referred with potential cardiac disease, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment.
The role includes patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures, maintaining adequate medical records, organising and interpreting appropriate investigations.
The Advanced Trainee will medically manage conditions such as acute and chronic coronary disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease including endocarditis, and hypertension, with initial management of arrhythmias and pericardial disease, basic adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension, and prevention of heart disease; and undertake supervised general medical management of patients admitted to the Cardiology department.
The Advanced Trainee will undertake dedicated terms for procedures including coronary angiography, echocardiography, electrophysiology and other procedural and clinical aspects relevant to Cardiology.
The doctor is a key person who works closely with all members of staff and must: Work as part of, and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team. Deal with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature. Must have the ability to exercise discretion, sensitivity and maintain confidentiality. Work co-operatively within a team environment and actively contribute to team activities including pro-actively participating in team meetings and decision making processes.
The advanced trainee will be expected to make independent decisions on patient care. They will duly consult with the responsible consultant Cardiologist in a timely manner, according to the clinical urgency.
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- A minimum of two (2) full years of postgraduate experience by the start of the 2019 clinical year.
- Demonstrated recent relevant experience in clinical medicine and ability to work in a complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealings with patients, team members and supervisors.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, teaching, research, quality improvement and/or clinical leadership in medicine.
- Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in a clinical setting within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to apply clinical knowledge and concepts in practical situations in the context of multiple competing priorities.

The Advanced Trainee will medically manage conditions such as acute and chronic coronary disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease including endocarditis, and hypertension, with initial management of arrhythmias and pericardial disease, basic adult congenital heart disease and pulmonary hypertension, and prevention of heart disease; and undertake supervised general medical management of patients admitted to the Cardiology department.
The Advanced Trainee will undertake dedicated terms for procedures including coronary angiography, echocardiography, electrophysiology and other procedural and clinical aspects relevant to Cardiology.
The doctor is a key person who works closely with all members of staff and must: Work as part of, and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team. Deal with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature. Must have the ability to exercise discretion, sensitivity and maintain confidentiality. Work co-operatively within a team environment and actively contribute to team activities including pro-actively participating in team meetings and decision making processes.
The advanced trainee will be expected to make independent decisions on patient care. They will duly consult with the responsible consultant Cardiologist in a timely manner, according to the clinical urgency.
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- A minimum of two (2) full years of postgraduate experience by the start of the 2019 clinical year.
- Demonstrated recent relevant experience in clinical medicine and ability to work in a complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealings with patients, team members and supervisors.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, teaching, research, quality improvement and/or clinical leadership in medicine.
- Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in a clinical setting within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to apply clinical knowledge and concepts in practical situations in the context of multiple competing priorities.
- Current registration as a Basic Physician Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (or eligible for) and intent to obtain Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Join the Single Employer Model for your General Practice Training
The Registrar/Senior Registrar works under the direction and supervision of Specialist Medical Staff, and is responsible for:
- Adherence to professional protocols, policies, clinical pathways and standards.
- Demonstrating sound judgement and competence in accordance with skills and knowledge when undertaking tasks.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after-hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.
Strongly desirable selection criteria:
- Applicants must be confirmed by the local Tasmanian Directors of Training or their respective faculty as being on the training pathway of either The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
- Applicants must have already secured a placement in a Medical Centre listed under the relevant Commonwealth Section 19(2) Direction, which authorises participation in the Single Employer Model (SEM) program.
- Only those meeting the above two criteria will be considered for the GP registrar position within the SEM Pilot Program.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide effective clinical management of paediatric medical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in paediatric practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Paediatric CMO is the key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
It is expected that the CMO has been exposed to all aspects of general paediatric medicine and is able to competently assess children presenting to the Emergency Department and make appropriate provisional diagnoses and management plans. The CMO is also expected to be proficient at both neonatal and paediatric resuscitation. The CMO will be exposed to a broad range of developmental and behavioural problems and they are expected to undertake the assessments as part of the multidisciplinary teams and independently where required.
Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the medical officer's skills, knowledge and experience. The CMO will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of and at the discretion of the appropriate Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients managed within the hospitals of the health district are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.
Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Minimum four years experience in general paediatrics in a metropolitan hospital or tertiary paediatric centre with demonstrated ability to work at CMO level.
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
- Demonstrated experience and training in paediatric procedural and resuscitation skills including venepuncture, cannulation, bladder catheterisation and lumbar puncture.
- Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and self-education.
- This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency.
- If the incumbent's registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role
- Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.

South East Regional Hospital is the regional referral centre for the expansive south coast regions from Bateman's Bay to Cooma and down past the Victorian border to Mallacoota. The state of the art hospital is equipped with 3 operating theatres, ICU, 5 inpatient wards and outpatient services. There is also a dedicated office for the Orthopaedic registrars as well as a shared JMO lounge. Rural unaccredited trainees will also be eligible to apply for scholarships through HETI to help with attending courses and conferences. Fully furnished shared accommodation is usually provided to trainee's by the hospital.
What you'll be doing
The Orthopaedic SRMO is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Orthopaedic inpatients, providing an on-call service for SERH plus 3 surrounding hospitals within the health district. There is a good mix of elective and emergency operating with approximately 1200 operations performed annually. The SRMO will be responsible for the supervision of the resident medical officer as well as rotating medical students from the ANU Medical School.
The Orthopaedic Department is staffed by 2 unaccredited trainee registrars and 1 AOA accredited trainee registrar with a regular 1 in 4 on-call rosters with occasional 1 in 3 on-calls during periods of leave. The well-supported unit allows unaccredited trainees to gain a well-rounded experience in Orthopaedics. The job allows trainees/SRMOs to rotate daily through being on-call, managing acute orthopaedic emergencies, elective and emergency operating lists and outpatient clinics. There are a wide range of educational activities on offer including regular journal clubs, weekly X-ray meetings, teaching, quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings and the opportunity to take on research projects. This position would suit both an experienced trainee looking to hone their operative skills with a view to apply for the AOA Training Program or a junior trainee looking for a well-balanced introduction into Orthopaedic Surgery.
Selection Criteria
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Demonstrated ability to complete rotations as allocated and required
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise

Nepean Hospital is the tertiary referral unit for Blue Mountains and Lithgow Hospitals as well as the Central West of NSW. What you'll be doing
- Trainees are responsible for the assessment, investigation and initial management of patients presenting to the Emergency Department. This is under the supervision of the Emergency Physicians when required.
- Assist with the management of patients in order to provide high quality, safe, patient-centred care. This includes coordinating admissions, assisting with patient assessments, implementing treatment plans, and organizing referrals.
- Perform procedures under instruction and supervision, to assist with patient care and contribute to learning.
- Undertaking education and various other quality assurance activities carried out within the department.
- Participating in 24/7 rotating roster of days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Where you'll be working
- Nepean Emergency sees approximately 75,000 patients per year, of which about 36% are admitted to hospital. Approximately 20% of these patients are under 14 years of age.
- Staffed by 50 Emergency Physicians providing up to 5 consultants per shift from 0700-2400, with Advanced Trainee cover overnight.
- Consultant special interests including retrieval, toxicology, ultrasound and medical education.
- Designated Regional Trauma Centre by the Institute of Trauma and Injury Management.
- Accredited by ACEM for 3 years of training including TS4.
Essential requirements
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Applicants who are not currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia must meet English language skills registration standard (medical) and attach evidence of this to their application.
- Completion of at least three postgraduate years, including demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position.
- Significant experience in an Australian Emergency Department or equivalent in the last 2 years.
- Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education
- Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team.

The Team
The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0 to 5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood providers.
The CHaPS Residential Parenting Unit (lilinga) supports early intervention and support to families to navigate the adjustments and broad range of challenges that can arise during early parenting, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and tools needed to support family wellbeing.
lilinga means Tasmanian Myrtle Beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii) in palawa kani, the language of Tasmanian Aborigines.
The Role
Registered Nurses within lilinga work alongside Registered Midwives and Enrolled Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care that supports the careplan, and promotes the wellbeing and confidence of families admitted to the unit.
Multiple part-time, full-time, casual positions available.
Roles are available for both experienced Child and Family Health Nurses and Nurses with Perinatal and Infant Mental Health expertise with the capacity to take on grade-4 roles and in-charge shifts, as well as Registered Nurses newer to this specialist area seeking professional development and growth.
You will need
- Experience and/or knowledge of the principles of primary healthcare and delivery of holistic care that supports family efficacy.
- Experience, qualifications and/or knowledge (or ability to gain same) in the area of early parenting support, child development, and family mental health and wellbeing.
- Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, and in partnership with families, to meet health outcomes.

Details of appointment

What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Basic Physician Trainee (BPT) is to provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas in the public health organisations within the Network.
Basic Physician Training roles consist of rotations through medical departments, working under an appropriate level of supervision by consultants. Rotations have different levels of responsibility and team structures. BPTs will gain increasing clinical autonomy and accountability as team leaders throughout the course of the three-year training program, building on their skills and attributes with the goal of entering an Advanced Training program.
BPTs undertaking the care of medical patients should ensure that they operate within their own level of expertise within a collaborative clinical care model and to seek consultation with the treating physician when appropriate, in the following activities:
- Clinically assess patients, incorporating consultation/history taking, examination, and formulation of a differential diagnosis and management plans
- Discuss diagnoses and management plans with patients and their families or carers
- Document the progress of patients in multiple settings
- Prescribe medications tailored to patients’ needs and conditions
- Transfer care of patients
- Choose, organise and interpret investigations
- Assess and manage acutely unwell patients
- Plan, prepare for, perform, and provide after care for important procedures
- MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- This role requires eligibility for or current registration as a Basic Physician Trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and intent to obtain Fellowship of the RACP. What is your current RACP status?

The expected commencement date for this role is 1st November 2026, with an end date of 30th June 2027. The position will be based at the Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) in the Eating Disorders Service.
What you'll be doing
The primary purpose of the Staff Specialist in Adolescent Medicine is to provide specialist medical care for patients within the Eating Disorder Service. The Staff Specialist position works collaboratively with the Psychological Medicine Staff Specialists and multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive medical treatment and psychological care for patients and their families. It includes, inpatient and outpatient services, clinical supervision for junior medical staff, contribution to Adolescent Medicine on Call service and specialist medical cover for various clinical services within the Department as required. The position will contribute to strategic planning, service development, quality improvement, teaching and education, supervision of junior medical staff.
Clinical services within the department include:
SCHN Eating Disorder Service (EDS) provides treatment for children and adolescents with anorexia nervosa and other eating disorders from across New South Wales. Comprehensive programs at The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick include Inpatient re-feeding admissions, outpatient treatment, intensive day treatment, family admission program, parent groups and extensive family therapy program. The EDS also has a well-established clinical research program and regularly provides training, education and supervision to other services. The EDS is jointly managed and staffed by the Department of Psychological Medicine and Department of Adolescent Medicine.
Complex Adolescent Clinic (CAC) provides multidisciplinary medical and psychosocial assessment and management of adolescents with complex chronic conditions, chronic pain and fatigue syndromes impacting on their wellbeing and function.
CICADA Service is a lifespan approach to the Care and Intervention for Children and Adolescents affected by Drugs and Alcohol. The clinical service provides multidisciplinary comprehensive diagnostic assessment and management for high-risk vulnerable children and adolescents with FASD, substance use within the family or of the Adolescent.
Gender Services (GS)provides an interdisciplinary service between Adolescent Medicine, Psychological Medicine and Paediatric Endocrinology providing collaborative medical and psychosocial assessment, management for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents.
Various other services include Other Adolescent Medicine servicesinclude clinics, Adolescent Gynaecology, Adolescent Bladder Clinics, Self-Management Service, Adolescent Endocrine clinic, Group Programs and Youth Arts.

- Eligible for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia, and/or overseas trained pathways.
- Fellowship of the RACP or other Specialist College in Paediatric Subspecialty and/or other specialist recognition as provided in the Staff Specialists (State) Award relevant to Eating Disorder Service.
- Demonstrate clinical experience in the treatment of adolescents with complex health and psychosocial needs including experience in eating disorders, chronic illness, vulnerable and diverse populations.
- Demonstrate commitment to advancing Adolescent Medicine's clinical, research and training agendas including a commitment to clinical practice improvement and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide effective clinical leadership and oversight.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication, verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Available to participate in the Adolescent Medicine on call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
