As part of the Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) Casual Midwifery Pool, you’ll have the opportunity to work across our leading maternity services, supporting women and families through every stage of pregnancy, birth, and postnatal care. Every shift offers the chance to make a real difference while building your skills in diverse clinical settings.

- Auburn Hospital – providing maternity care to a diverse community
- Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospitals – rapidly growing facilities with modern birthing suites and a strong focus on family-centred care
What you'll be doing
As a Registered Midwife in our casual pool, you’ll provide safe, high-quality, evidence-informed care, supporting women, newborns, and their families through pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal journey. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll deliver professional, compassionate care that promotes positive health outcomes and family wellbeing.
Your responsibilities include:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating midwifery care in partnership with women and families
- Supporting women through antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care with a focus on individual needs and preferences
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community services to ensure seamless, family-centred care
- Supervising and supporting students and less experienced staff in the clinical environment
- Promoting evidence-based midwifery practice and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements
- Registration: Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) (NSW Registered Midwife).
Selection Criteria
- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Demonstrated ability to practice in accordance with the Registered Midwife National Competency Standards, Code of Ethics for Midwives, and Code of Professional Conduct for Midwives (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia).
- Recent midwifery experience including, antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care and lactation support.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means; and sound interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
- An understanding of woman centred care and demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of the multi-disciplinary health care team.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality midwifery care.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise workload and deliver care with integrity and accountability.

What you’ll be doing

- Effective interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills with attention to detail.
- Evidence of computer literacy and understanding of relevant health related information systems.

Unaccredited Trainee will also provide consultation and advice regarding pain, fluid management and drug doses to the paediatric surgical patients admitted at Blacktown Hospital as well as assessing children presenting to Blacktown Emergency Department and arrange transfer to a paediatric facility if appropriate.
- Unaccredited Trainees work across both sites and across 3 units
- A shift work roster of mostly 12.5 hours shifts, including night shifts and weekends
- The roster also includes "sick-on-call" shifts where they may be required to fill a shift within the specified 24 hour period at short notice
- Unaccredited Trainees may be the most senior paediatric doctor onsite overnight
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Minimum of 2 years post graduate training, including recent experience in both general paediatrics (minimum 12 months experience) and neonatology (minimum 3 months). and sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the clinical duties of the role in a variety of clinical settings and proficiency in basic and advanced paediatric and neonatal resuscitation.

About Our Role
Our Provisional Fellow in Orthopaedic Surgery (Neurospinal) provides effective clinical management of adult elective and emergency spinal patients including spinal cord injured surgical patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The Provisional Fellow is a key person who works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
This role is suitable only for surgeons in an early stage of their career who wish to build on skills developed during the initial phases of their training.
Decision making and supervision will be at the appropriate level according to the doctor’s skills, knowledge and experience. The medical officer will be expected to adopt a progressively more independent approach to patient management according to their experience, under the guidance of and at the discretion of the appropriate Attending Medical Officer (AMO). All patients managed within the hospitals of the health service are under the direct care of a specialist medical practitioner. All decisions regarding their care are to be clearly communicated with the specialist responsible for that care.

Campbelltown Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Clinical Trials team in Immunology and Allergy on a temporary part-time basis. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to vital research that directly impacts patient care and treatment outcomes. We are offering permanent roles with the opportunity to work in a variety of Surgical clinical areas. The TSH Nurse Bank offers you the opportunity for extended rotations in exciting Surgical clinical areas, professional development and clinical support. The Nurse Bank Registered Nurses are allocated across the surgical areas to backfill temporary vacancies for example, maternity leave relief and long service leave. This model differs from a casual pool model. Opportunities will be provided to move from the nurse bank to permanent positions on other units at The Sutherland Hospital as vacancies arise. Opportunities include all specialties across the site.
Positions in the nurse bank are either Full-time or Part-time with a minimum of 2 days per week. To be eligible for a position, you must have current Australian work rights, have completed a Transition to Professional Practice Program and have the ability to participate in a seven day rotating roster. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Department and Hospital as required.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department at Canterbury Hospital is a busy service, providing maternity and gynaecological care to women from culturally diverse backgrounds from the local community/population. The Department provides inpatient, outpatient and consultation services in gynaecology, antenatal care and obstetrics for patients of gestation 34 weeks and above. The Department is well supported by a Paediatrics Department for neonatal care. The Visiting Medical Officer is expected to have a strong interest in obstetrics and be prepared to participate in an obstetrics on-call roster.
The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
The successful applicant will be a current registered Medical practitioner, registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.
Position is currently available.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
