Concord Emergency Department is seeking motivated ACEM Advanced Trainees (TS2-4) to develop a unique skillset on our team.
The Hospital
Concord Repatriation General Hospital is proud of its healthcare service excellence and leadership in clinical care. Concord is part of a network of hospitals and healthcare services within Sydney Local Health District and offers a comprehensive range of specialty and sub-specialty services in the inner-western suburbs of Sydney.
Concord Hospital is committed to ensuring the community has equitable access to high quality patient-centred care that is timely, evidence-based, culturally appropriate and efficient. The hospital provides this care in partnership with highly skilled and committed staff.
The Department of Emergency Medicine
The Emergency department has 2 resus bays, 16 acute beds, a rapid access and fast track area and a new 5-bed ED short stay unit due for completion in late 2026. A high-end CT scanner has been installed adjacent to the resuscitation bays with a co-located radiology department.

Concord ED is a major referral site and is accredited for 24 months of advanced ED training with Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM). We provide opportunities to get involved in research and quality assurance activities and encourage consolidating the practice of evidence-based medicine.
The role
As an ED AT you will be part of the dynamic team providing emergency care under the guidance of Emergency Consultants. We will provide you with the opportunity to develop a broad range of clinical skills in a well-supported environment to progress in your career in emergency medicine focussed on medical complexity and high acuity presentations.
Concord ED has an established program for professional development and structured education. We pride ourselves on providing you with a supportive educational environment and flexibility to meet your professional development needs and training goals. This includes:
- Weekly ED registrar teaching (5-hours paid protected time)

- Bedside teaching program including procedural skills accreditation for sedation and central access
- In-situ interprofessional simulation program
- ACEM Associateship training program in Emergency Medicine as an alternative to ACEM training.
- A supportive, collegiate, and diverse work environment
- Convenient location near transport facilities with onsite parking available.
- Salary packaging and fitness passport for eligible staff including utilising SLHD gym facilities

This unique ACEM accredited rotation consists of a 0.5 Burns and a 0.5 ED component over a 6-month term. It is the only one of its kind in Australia! The ED burns registrar is integrated into the burns team and involved in all aspects of burns care. This provides opportunity to develop special clinical skills, teaching and quality improvement work.

This rotation enables consolidation of advanced ultrasound skills under the guidance of dedicated supervisors. It is made up of a 0.5 ultrasound and a 0.5 ED component over a 6-month term. Trainees will be supported to accomplish accreditation in multiple CCU units and integrate ultrasound skills in practice.
