Where you'll be working
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital
Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital is a major metropolitan teaching hospital. Patients can access a range of services including coronary care, intensive care, orthopaedics, general medicine, surgical, obstetric, respiratory, rehabilitation, paediatric, maternity and emergency care. The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
Critically ill patients include patients with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit. Trainees in unaccredited positions in the Intensive Care Department work under supervision, assisting to manage, diagnose and treat the disturbances associated with severe medical, surgical, obstetric and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them. This may include management of deteriorating and seriously ill patients outside the intensive care unit as well as the intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Adept ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services
- Adept ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise.
- Adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences
- Adept ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment
- Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of intensive care medicine
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- At least four years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).

What you'll be doing
The trainee will also have the opportunity to rotate through to other acute medical wards including; Respiratory, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology and General Medicine.
- Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
- High level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience.
- Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
- Understanding and promotion of collaborative effort and empathy within a heterogeneous team environment such as the Medical Assessment Unit.
- Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of on-going learning, teaching activities potential involvement with projects and research publications.
- At least four years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).

About The Opportunity
COPILOT is a dynamic and exciting service that provides rapid access to multi-disciplinary geriatric assessment (medical, nursing, and allied health) for older people living in the community setting. Referral enables care to be implemented in the patient’s home environment, whether that be in RACH's or their own homes, avoiding unnecessary transfer to hospital and leading to improved patient outcomes.
The COPILOT VMO will provide a high quality clinical service to older people and their families/carers to optimise health outcomes and support clients keeping well in the community. The VMO will provide comprehensive geriatric assessments and evidence-based care to clients residing in their own homes or nursing homes for acute care with the goal of avoiding unnecessary transfer to hospital.
The COPILOT VMO will need strong clinical leadership and decision making skills, have relevant clinical experience in the Aged Care speciality, and preferentially experience in providing community-based care both in a direct and virtual capacity. The position requires compliance with mandatory clinical administration duties, and participation in an on-call roster. The successful candidate should have strong communication skills, be efficient and have excellent time-management skills, and a willingness to join a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary district-wide service.

What you'll be doing
To provide effective clinical management of patients with Sexually Transmissible Infections, HIV, and other sexual
health needs, including provision of screening and biomedical prevention strategies, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. The primary purpose of the Advanced Trainee in Paediatrics at Blacktown-Mt Druitt Hospital is to provide effective clinical management of Paediatric patients, under appropriate supervision, whilst developing expertise in Paediatric practice, in a complex environment. The Advanced Trainee (Paediatrics) works closely with all members of a multi-disciplinary team and deals with matters of an urgent or sensitive nature, whilst exercising discretion, sensitivity and maintaining confidentiality.
It is expected that the Advance Trainee has been exposed to all aspects of general paediatrics medicine and is able to competently assess children presenting to the Emergency department across both sites (BMDH) and make appropriate provisional diagnoses and management plan. The Advanced Trainee is also expected to be proficient at both neonatal and paediatric resuscitation. The trainee will be working as part of a team to provide holistic medical care for paediatric and neonatal inpatients. The Trainee is also expected to review patients in Paediatric Ambulatory Care clinics at Blacktown & Mount Druitt Hospital. The Advance Trainee will be exposed to a broad range of developmental and behavioural problems and they are expected to undertake the assessments as part of the multidisciplinary teams and independently where required. The Advance Trainee will be expected to assess children at risk and complete a SCAN (Suspected child abuse and Neglect) assessment when required.
The Advance Trainee will also provide consultation and advice regarding pain, fluid management and drug doses to the paediatric surgical patients admitted at Blacktown hospital and assess children presenting to Blacktown Emergency department and arrange transfer to a paediatric facility if appropriate.
- Advanced Trainees work across both sites and across 3 units.
- Participate in after-hours rosters including nights and weekends.
- A shift work roster of mostly 12.5 hours shifts, including night shifts and weekends.
- The roster also includes "sick-on-call" shifts where they may be required to fill a shift within the specified 24 hour period at short notice.
- Advanced Trainees may be the most senior paediatric doctor onsite overnight.
- Advanced Trainees will have the opportunity to partake in General Paediatric Outpatient Clinics.
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the clinical duties of the role in a variety of clinical settings and proficiency in basic and advanced Paediatric and Neonatal resuscitation.

To coordinate multiple sclerosis clinical trials within the Neurology Department at Royal North Shore Hospital. Ensure research is conducted in accordance with the protocol, policy, legislation, ethical requirements, and guidelines for Good Clinical Practice and the National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research.

The vision for nursing and midwifery at Sutherland hospital is to build a united team that provides compassionate care to our community through transformational, supportive and holistic nursing and midwifery.
• To provide after-hours expert clinical advice and support to Nursing/Midwifery staff, within Women & Children’s Health Services
• To identify clinical care issues and support the delivery of safe clinical care
• Provide clinical assistance to staff through demonstrated practice and coaching
• To enable the development of skills and knowledge particularly amongst novice and advanced beginner midwives and other health professionals as necessary
• The Clinical Midwifery Specialist Grade 2 after-hours provides support to staff in the delivery of clinical care and is not to be seen as providing cover for workforce shortages
• The Clinical Midwifery Specialist Grade 2 after-hours will be available to assist in emergency situations and where unexpected clinical demands arise of a short term nature

The ideal candidate will have:
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Relevant Post graduate qualifications in midwifery or other relevant area e.g. education and/or at least 3 years recent experience working in the acute midwifery clinical area.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development and use of clinical management plans.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
- Demonstrated skills in the development & facilitation of women and carer education and midwifery staff as required.
- Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and evidence of leadership in safety and quality innovation.
- Demonstrated competence in the use of health-related information technology.

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. This role is principally involved in clinical research projects including clinical trials and translational research in all cancers. The research unit undertakes phase 1,2,3 trials in all cancer types with a recent emphasis on novel immunotherapy agents. Also undertake a number of in-house studies.
