Your new role…
The role of the AIN works within a nursing plan of care under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and within the limits of the AIN position description and local policy and protocol.
We are looking for casual Undergraduate Assistants in Nursing who are able to work at least one shift per week in Sydney Local Health District facilities including:

- Concord Hospital
- Canterbury Hospital
- Balmain Hospital

About the Role
The Registered Nurse as a Clinical Research Coordinator at AW Morrow Gastroenterology and Liver Centre, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is an integral member of the clinical research team. The role combines nursing skills and expertise in planning, implementation, coordination and data management of research projects including clinical trials conducted within the Centre.
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Ideal Candidate
- Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of Good Clinical Practice guideline, privacy laws, regulatory and ethical issues in clinical research
- Use critical thinking and problem solving to analyse nursing practice to provide safe, appropriate and quality support to research trial participants.
- Demonstrate strong skills in planning and organisation with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within scheduled timeframes.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists to join the East Coast Medical Network as a Basic Physician Trainee
The East Coast Medical Network may offer 1- or 2-year contracts (as required for completion of their length of training) to applicants who have completed their time in an accredited BPT role. The East Coast Medical Network is dedicated to training balanced, well-rounded and competent physicians.
Vocationally based training is delivered across five locations along the spectacular East Coast of New South Wales: Prince of Wales Hospital, Sydney Hospital, The Royal Hospital for Women, Port Macquarie Base Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital.
We support our trainees to reach their full potential through an interactive and individualised education program underpinned by the principles of opportunity, equity and fairness. While the success of the network is reflected in our consistently strong performance in the RACP written and clinical examinations, we measure success more broadly through the ability of our graduates to secure their preferred advanced training positions and through the strong reputation ECMN trainees for their knowledge, clinical acumen and work ethic.
The ECMN offers a broad range of subspecialty medical terms across both metropolitan and regional settings. There are no standalone night terms within the network. A comprehensive preference system is used to allocate rotations and annual leave, with the aim of providing trainees with a diverse range of clinical experiences.
Our written education program complements the RACP's Physician Education Program and is delivered weekly during protected teaching time. Sessions focus on direct interaction with experts in their fields and are videoconferenced to all peripheral sites from the first week of training. All trainees are given the opportunity to attend a two-week revision course in the penultimate year of their ECMN training contract, regardless of the duration of prior RACP training completed.
Our clinical examination preparation program is comprehensive and includes several structured activities each week, including practice short and long cases, dedicated neurology teaching and communication skills tutorials. Trainees are eligible to participate in the clinical examination preparation program during the final year of their ECMN training contract, regardless of the duration of prior training completed.
Our professional development program aims to broaden trainees' skills beyond clinical medicine, with sessions covering leadership, supervision of junior medical officers, communication, curriculum vitae preparation and interview skills. There are also significant opportunities to become involved in teaching and research through the network's strong affiliation with the University of New South Wales.

The hospital also provides a wide range of outpatient services including allied health, dental and podiatry clinics, child, adolescent and family health, drug and alcohol, health promotion and rehabilitation and aged care. An acute mental health service is co-located at Hornsby Hospital. The new $265 million Stage 2 redevelopment was officially opened in June 2022.

What you'll be doing
This position consists of 6 months working as an Advanced Trainee in the Paediatric Department at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital (General Paediatrics with a Perinatal component) and 6 months working as an Advanced Trainee in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital (Neonatology). This position would suit an RACP or ACEM (PEM) Advanced Trainee who requires additional General Paediatric or Neonatology training time / experience.
The primary role of a Paediatric Advanced Trainee is provision of care for patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, at a level of skill and autonomy consistent with Advanced Training in Paediatrics. The role includes initial assessment of children, rational use of investigations, ongoing management and monitoring progress, and organising timely discharge and appropriate follow up.
The Paediatric Advanced Trainee is a senior member of the Junior Medical Staff within a clinical team. In matters relating directly to patient care, the Trainee is responsible to the Specialist in charge of the patient's care and the Fellow(s) where relevant. The Trainee is responsible for supervision and teaching of Junior Medical Staff on their clinical team, including medical students. The Paediatric Advanced Trainee is a role model for Junior Medical Staff in relation to professional conduct, clinical acumen and communication with patients, families and colleagues (including health professionals and other staff working in hospital and outpatient settings).
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category
- Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (or ACEM for Paediatric Emergency trainees) as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent with remaining training requirements. The Role
As a Registered Nurse in our Recovery Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital, the role involves delivering high-quality, person-centred care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards of Practice. The nurse is responsible for coordinating and implementing nursing care, including comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, to support patients in achieving optimal health outcomes.
This includes maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, communicating effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team, and delegating and supervising care provided by Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing within their scope of practice. The role also encompasses participation in quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development, while adhering to NSW Health and SESLHD policies, demonstrating CORE values, and promoting a culture of wellbeing and exceptional care.
Where You'll be Working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. - Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia

Ideal Candidate
- Has a current Nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
