About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced Registered Nurses to join the Cardiac Inpatient Unit, Ward 7A, on a fixed-term basis working out of Victorian Heart Hospital. 

Opportunities are available across our 24/7 rotating roster, including night duty. We also encourage applications from Registered Nurses who have a preference for permanent Night Duty, with fixed-term Night Duty contracts available.

We are seeking Registered Nurses who are passionate about cardiac nursing and are looking to further develop their clinical knowledge, skills and experience within this specialised area.

In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, compassionate and evidence-based care to cardiac patients. You will contribute to maintaining high clinical standards, effective ward operations and excellent patient outcomes while working within a supportive and experienced cardiac team.

About Us

The Victorian Heart Hospital is Australia’s first and only hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of acute, complex tertiary and quaternary cardiac patients. Our purpose-built facility includes ten cardiac catheter laboratories, five operating theatres, a Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and a dedicated Cardiac Emergency Department. Ward 7A is a 32-bed Cardiac Inpatient Unit providing high-quality, patient-centred care for patients with a broad range of cardiology, cardiothoracic and heart failure conditions. Our experienced multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide excellence in cardiac care within a specialised clinical environment. We are committed to supporting the professional and educational development of our nurses through a range of structured learning and career-development opportunities, including:

• Transition Into Cardiac Care (TICC) program
• Postgraduate study pathways with Monash University, including the Master of Nursing Practice

About You

We are looking for Registered Nurses who are enthusiastic about developing their cardiac nursing career and contributing positively to the Ward 7A team.

You will ideally have:

• Recent cardiac or cardiac surgical experience within an acute and/or critical care environment, highly desirable
• A Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma in Critical Care or Cardiac Care, highly desirable
• A strong commitment to safe, high-quality and patient-centred care
• The ability to contribute effectively within a collaborative, high-performing clinical team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organisation and time-management skills
• Availability to work across a 24/7 rotating roster, or an interest in a fixed-term permanent Night Duty arrangement
