About the role

This maternity relief opportunity offers the chance to work within the Midwifery Group Practice program, providing continuity of care to women throughout their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey. You will be allocated an agreed caseload of women each year and, with the support of your fellow midwives, provide 24-hour care and support.

In this role, you'll work independently, managing your own workload and schedule while building strong, trusted relationships with the women in your care. You'll be responsible for the delivery of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions that support 'towards normal birth' strategies and help women achieve their individual birthing goals.

Focussed on each woman's unique needs, expectations and aspirations, you'll practice at an advanced level to deliver high-quality care outcomes in a supportive and collaborative environment. You'll be backed by a Clinical Midwife Specialist Team Leader and benefit from close support from the district's Clinical Midwife Educator and Clinical Midwife Consultants.

This maternity relief role provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your skills, gain valuable experience within a well-established Midwifery Group Practice model, and access ongoing professional development opportunities to accelerate your career.

Rural Health Workforce Incentives Scheme

You may qualify for a $20,000 sign-on bonus if you have moved (evidence required) from MM1-2 (metro) location, interstate or internationally to work in our district. If you do not meet this criteria, attraction incentives or allowances of up to $10,000 may apply.

Retention incentives of up to $10,000 after 12 months of service may apply.

Incentives for part time employment are paid at a pro-rata rate. For eligibility criteria and more information: Midwifery sign-on bonus.
