Provisional Fellow - Maternal-Fetal Medicine - The Royal Hospital for Women - Maternity Leave Relief

The Royal Hospital for Women is close to some of Sydney's best beaches, restaurants, and sporting facilities and only fifteen (15) minutes from the Sydney Central Business District and harbour, adding a quality lifestyle to the satisfaction that comes from working within a committed and decided team. The Royal Hospital for Women is situated between the University of New South Wales and Coogee Beach.

The Royal Hospital for Women has been one of Australia's foremost specialist hospitals for women and babies since its early beginnings as New South Wales first lying-in hospital for women in 1820. As a principal teaching hospital of the University of NSW in the fields of obstetrics, gynaecology, and neonatology the Royal has a history of innovation in women's health care services, teaching, and research. Each year the Hospital delivers up to 3,000 babies and cares for more than 600 premature babies. There is a co-located Children's Hospital and paediatric surgery is undertaken at both RHW and Sydney Children's Hospital.

The hospital's other areas of specialisation include gynaecology, gynaecological oncology, menopause, breast care, newborn intensive care, and reproductive medicine.

The NSW Fetal Therapy Unit is located at RHW. Lasers for twin to twins transfusion are undertaken as well as other fetal procedures.

The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment whilst developing higher professional maturity and professionalism during the RANZCOG Advanced Training Program, with the goal of obtaining FRANZCOG. Provisional Fellows will, under an appropriate level of supervision by senior staff as approved by the RANZCOG, evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients of all ages presenting in any condition or stage of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.

The Provisional Fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine will be responsible for providing support to the Division of Obstetrics and Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) through a range of clinical activities (identified in the Clinical position requirements). The position is ideally suited to a Provisional Fellow undertaking the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) Certificate in Maternal Fetal Medicine (CMFM) and/or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound.
